EVE Frontier Opens to Public with Web3 Twist
CCP Games, the studio behind the long-standing sci-fi MMO franchise EVE Online, has moved its latest title EVE Frontier from a closed alpha stage into a wider public-access phase through the rollout of its “Founder Access: New Era for EVE Frontier” initiative. This marks a significant milestone in the game’s development, allowing a broader player base to engage with its web3-based survival gameplay.
Seasonal Gameplay Presented with Reward-Based Progression
The update introduces a structured progression system called “Cycles,” designed to guide player advancement through a seasonal format. These cycles reward participants with a newly introduced in-game currency called “EVE Points,” which can be earned by completing objectives and performing well on competitive leaderboards. While the total number of cycles in the public access phase remains undisclosed, the developer clarified that users participating in the Founder Access stage will have the opportunity to collect these points.
The first cycle in the series, named “Promised Lands,” is currently active. It allows players to accrue a progress currency named “Grace” by engaging in various in-game activities. As Grace accumulates, users climb ranks on both tribe-based and individual leaderboards. Those who secure top positions are eligible for EVE Points, unlocking in-game rewards such as special items, character upgrades, or strategic advantages.
Alongside these gameplay mechanics, CCP Games has lifted previous restrictions on content creation. Players now have complete freedom to stream, record, and distribute gameplay footage. The title is available on both PC and Mac platforms, priced at $39.99.
Immersive Web3 Survival Experience in Deep Space
Set in an expansive galaxy, EVE Frontier immerses players—referred to as “Riders”—in the role of genetically cloned beings tasked with rebuilding civilization. While the initial focus is on survival, players can mold their journey into various roles, such as explorers, warriors, traders, or builders.
The game is a sandbox driven by player-initiated actions. From player-formed factions to bases, personal economies, and the stargate network, you shape the ultimate living world.
“The gameplay focuses on the exploration of star systems, gathering a resource known as Unrefined Matter for energy, and engaging in space combat heavily influenced by environmental conditions and physics-based mechanics. Players must employ strategic movement and terrain to overcome enemy drones or rival participants.”
Moreover, users can construct and customize space bases, interlinking them to create large settlements equipped with trading hubs, manufacturing units, and defensive capabilities. Faction-building is integral to the gameplay, allowing players to establish networks, devise trade routes, and construct stargates connecting remote sectors of the galaxy. The ability to enhance and upgrade ship capabilities enables players to adopt diverse strategies, ranging from high-speed stealth operations to full-scale assault tactics.
Expanding the EVE Universe and Embracing Blockchain
Established in 1997 as Crowd Control Productions, CCP Games has gained renown for its flagship title EVE Online, launched in 2003. The game garnered acclaim for its massive space battles, player-driven economy, and vast exploration opportunities.
Over time, CCP has expanded the EVE universe with several spin-offs, including EVE Echoes (a mobile MMO), EVE Lead (a first-person shooter), EVE Galaxy Conquest (a strategy title), and the latest EVE Frontier (a space survival simulation).
