House Democrats Struggle to Approach ‘Crypto Week’ With Unified Front
House Republicans, supported by the White House, are pushing ahead with a series of crucial votes on digital assets legislation scheduled for next week. However, Democrats find themselves in a quandary on how to present a unified front during what is being dubbed as “Crypto Week”. The upcoming vote holds significant importance as it is expected to have a much tighter margin than a similar bill that passed with strong bipartisan support last year.
The primary point of contention for some Democrats lies in the absence of provisions preventing President Donald Trump from engaging in profitable crypto ventures while in office. While Representative Waters has been vocal in her opposition, the Democratic Party leadership has not taken a definitive stance. Despite this, the party seems inclined to leverage crypto-related legislation as a means to criticize the president.
