CoinMarketCap Validates Elimination of Malicious Wallet Rip-off Popup
CoinMarketCap states its group is still investigating the concern and taking steps to reinforce the website’s security after removing the code.
One of the most popular sites that track prices of cryptocurrencies, CoinMarketCap, has removed a shady popup on its website that asked users to confirm their wallets. It added that its team is still investigating and is making efforts to bolster its security. MetaMask and Phantom crypto wallets acted quickly, raising the alert and preventing users from falling into the trap. Another user, Jet, said that both wallets had actually raised the red flag on the hazard early. CoinMarketCap also encouraged its users not to link their wallets to any popup and guaranteed to work on the safety of the site. This case serves as a lesson to every crypto user: be alert, do not trust any unknown popups, and make sure you examine links on main sources before utilizing your wallets.
