Filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the complaint details how North Korean IT workers posed as American citizens to secure jobs at US blockchain and tech companies. North Korea has deployed thousands of skilled IT workers abroad to deceive businesses into hiring them as independent IT contractors, aiding North Korean cyber operations and generating revenue for the regime. The FBI’s crackdown on North Korea’s crypto activities comes amid escalating concerns. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT recently warned about North Korea’s extensive involvement in crypto and DeFi. The US, Japan, and South Korea have collectively denounced North Korea’s illicit cryptocurrency activities.
